Good news for Delhiites! AAP government makes all radiology tests free

Earlier CM Kejriwal had announced free MRI, Pet and CT scans for the poor but now, the list of scans has increased.

In a bid to facilitate effective medical assistance to people across the national capital, Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal launched a welfare scheme on March 2 which will provide completely free radiology tests to the Delhi residents. The scheme was launched at 2.30 pm at the Delhi Secretariat, ITO. Earlier an advertisement was also circulated in newspapers in which the Delhi health minister Satyendar Jain was quoted saying,”We are committed to provide affordable and quality healthcare to all citizens of Delhi.”

This scheme has been termed as a”revolutionary step” by the AAP government. Tests which can be prevailed free: MRIs, CT, PET scans and ultrasounds. After getting referred from any of the 30 government or 23 polyclinics designated by the state health ministry, a patient can avail these free facilities.

Under this scheme, the listed hospitals in which free tests will be available are Aruna Asaf Ali Government Hospital (Civil Lines), GB Pant Institute of Medical Education & Research, PT Madan Mohan Malviya Hospital (Malviya Nagar), Sanjay Gandhi Memorial Hospital (Mangolpuri) and Janakpuri Super Specialty Hospital.

Apart from the hospitals, there are several certified diagnostic centre where from the free medical service could be prevailed: Dr SS Doda’s Ultrasound Centre (Pusa Road), Dr Gulati Imaging Institute (Aurobindo Marg), ML Aggarwal Imaging Centre (Safdarjung Enclave), Focus Imaging & Research Centre (Green Park Ext), National MRI, CT Scan and Diagnostic Centre (Punjabi Bagh) etc.
