About 30 pc of porn website visitors in India are women: Report

In its report, the website also ranked India as the 4th biggest consumer of porn among countries worldwide.

Adult content website, PornHub on Monday in its year-in-review report revealed that about 30 per cent  of the visitors from India were female. In its report, the website also ranked India as the 4th biggest consumer of porn among countries worldwide.

Interestingly, last year, the PornHub report had ranked India 3rd.

PornHub in its report said: “The majority of searches (top, relative and gaining) include ‘Indian’. One top term that came seemingly out of nowhere to make it into the top 10 list was ‘Indian aunty with young’, flying up to the top by 81 spots.”

The website also revealed that the term ‘Lesbian’ dominated women’s top searches, while the top searched term by men, according to the PornHub report was ‘MILF’.

As per the reports, majority of Pornhub’s visitors were millennials.

In India, the proportion of viewers between 18 and 24 is much higher that compared to a country like Spain, the report said.

Earlier in 2015, The government of India had banned access to at least 857 websites it considers pornographic in a bid to “protect social decency”.

The order was directed to the internet service providers (ISPs) citing that they violate “morality and decency” of Article 19 (2) of the Constitution and Section 79(3)(b) of the IT Act.

In July 2015, a bench headed by Chief Justice H L Dattu dismissed a plea seeking to ban pornography in the country, questioning whether a ban of such nature  would not be an infringement on ones freedom.

“Such interim orders cannot be passed by this court. Somebody may come to the court and say look I am above 18 and how can you stop me from watching it within the four walls of my room. It is a violation of Article 21 [right to personal liberty],” Chief Justice HL Dattu observed orally.

Later, the government was forced to reverse course following widespread outrage.
