In yet another instance of molestation, a mob of drunk men vandalised a police vehicle after they tried to make an attempt to protect a woman from getting molested on New Year’s eve in Delhi.
According to reports, the incident took place in Mukherjee Nagar area of Delhi. The woman was reportedly was returning home on her bike when a mob of men tried to molest her and when the police officials tried to stop them, the men attacked them in return.
“Around 200 drunk men were near that area celebrating New Year’s eve. Some of them tried to grope this woman who was on a bike. We immediately rushed to intervene but the mob attacked us and pelted stones on us,” one of the police personnel told a leading daily.
The men even thrashed the cops using sharps objects like rods. However, the cops did help the girl get away from the spot. A number of cops including suffered injuries.
Additional police forces were deployed to take control of the situation. The police have managed to arrest 2 men at the moment. The incident comes into light just a day after a shocking and a harrowing CCTV footage released where two motorcycle-borne men are seen molesting a woman on a street in Bengaluru while the woman tries to make desperate attempts to get away from his clutches.
A shocking case of apathy even comes forth as a number of onlookers cross their path but do make any efforts to intervene and stop the men.
On December 31, thousand of revelers gathered in the busy areas of MG Road and Brigade Road in Bangalore where several men groped and verbally abused women revelers even as 1500 policemen were present in the area to provide “security”.Reports also mentioned that some women had to take off their heels and run from the spot because the police were majorly mute spectators and barely intervened.
