Senior journalist and NDTV India editor Ravish Kumar will receive the first Gauri Lankesh Award for Journalism for ‘sharp news analysis’ and ‘uncompromising secular stance’.
The winner was decided by a selection committee comprising senior journalist Siddharth Varadarajan, activist Teesta Setalvad and academic Rahamat Tarikere.
This comes after he was honoured with the 2019 Ramon Magsaysay Award for ‘standing up for truth, integrity and independance’. Born in Motihari, Bihar, Ravish has been a journalist for around 23 years and was listed as 100 most influential by The Indian Express.
