With changing times, everything around us is tech-savvy now. In our daily lives, we get most of our work done with a little help of tech these days, so why should our police force stay behind? Bengaluru City Police (BCP), known for its social media presence to monitor unlawful activities, bust crimes, and provide information, has now started a service in which the BCP can be contacted via WhatsApp. Yes, if you’re in Bengaluru and are having trouble reaching the Police through the standard emergency number 100, you can now drop a text to the BCP number on WhatsApp and they’ll get back to you immediately. Have a look at the post:
The next time you’re in distress & you can’t make calls, text your friends. And by friends, we mean us. Save this number, buddy. 9480801000 pic.twitter.com/Tb74nHCT0J

Notably, the WhatsApp number – 9480801000, has been present for quite some time now, it has gained more attention now, after the post made by the BCP. Earlier in 2015, the BCP had launched this number saying, “If you are in Bengaluru and facing any problem, you need not visit any nearby police station to lodge a complaint. For, people can now directly connect with the Bengaluru Police on WhatsApp and lodge a complaint.” This unique service, was first-of-its-kind in the country.
Oh, by the way, the Police Department is also on Snapchat and Instagram.
