Air India to soon start reserving seats for woman on domestic flights

In a first, Air India will now reserve seats for woman passengers a month after reports of a woman assaulted on the plane surfaced.

In a bid to provide safety to the women flyers, Air India said that they are soon going to begin reserving seats for women on their domestic flights. Air India has reportedly said that they will reserve 6 seats in the third row of the airplane.

According to reports, the national carrier will not levy any extra charges for reserving that seat. For now, this will be available for the woman passengers in the economy class.

This particular move came after reports of woman travelling in Air India’s Mumbai-Newark flight surfaced. A co-passenger in the flight allegedly groped a woman travelling in the economy while she  was asleep. It was reported that the accused changed his seat from Business class to economy class to sit next to the victim.

It must be noted that this is first flight to offer this special privelege to woman passengers. However, we are not sure if this is just another move undertaken for image correction.

Earlier this week, in what was a major blow to Air India, it was ranked third among the worst airlines across the world. While, Netharlands flag carrier KLM has been adjudged the best international airline in 2016.
