Congress on Wednesday created uproar in Rajya Sabha over the issue of Union Minister of Home Affairs Kiren Rijiju’s alleged involvement in a corruption scam in Arunachal Pradesh. Following the ruckus, the House was adjourned till Thursday.
Defending the minister, Union Human Resource and Development (HRD) Minister Prakash Javadekar said that the Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP) will expose the Congress party. “Rijiju is clean and the scam happened during the tenure of Congress,” he said.

The case pertains to Rijiju’s alleged role in a scam related to a hydro-power project in Arunachal Pradesh. His distant cousin – Goboi Rijiju, a contractor in Arunachal Pradesh, and several other officials of North Eastern Electric Power Corporation (NEEPCO) have been named in a report by the chief vigilance officer.
They have been accused of corruption in the construction of two dams for the 600 megawatt Kameng hydro-electric projects.
Meanwhile, Rijiju has denied all allegations against him terming these as “planted news.”
