Amid uproar, Jallikattu held in several parts of TN; over 100 bulls, 500 bull tamers participate

There are 100 bulls and more than 500 bull tamers participating in the event.

More than 100 bulls and 500 bull tamers participated in the Jallikattu event that was organized in Pudupatti village in Manaparai’s, Tamil Nadu.

In the morning Tamil Nadu Chief Minister, O. Panneerselvam faced protests when he went to inaugrate Jallikattu event in Alanganallur. Protesters there demanded a permanent solution for organising a Jallikattu event in the state, therefore, not allowing Tamil Nadu CM to inaugurate.

Protesters waived red flag at the state event held for Jallikattu .

“This is the monumental failure of both the state government and the Centre. They are not assuaging feelings of people, it is the time that protesters have to be reached out”, said DMK

While villagers stage a sit-in protest demanding a permanent solution for Jallikattu issue, CM also assures that the ban on the jallikaatu will be lifted.

Earlier, the Supreme Court was informed that both the Centre and Tamil Nadu were in touch and some measures were being taken to tackle the situation that surfaced in light of the harvest festival in which the ancient animal sport has special significance

It has been a week since thousands of people have gathered at the Marina beach in Chennai demanding lift on Supreme Court’s ban on the famous bull taming sport. Protesters believe that it is a part of their culture.
