Honouring its poll promise of allowance for unemployed youth, the Andhra Pradesh government has decided to give a monthly stipend of Rs 2000 per person till they land a job. The state cabinet sub-committee had given a green signal for the scheme with an initial budget of Rs 500 crore, reports Indian Express.
Speaking with Indian Express, Finance Minister Yanamala Ramakrishnuduimpart said that steps are being taken for skill development and training and create more job opportunities for youth. There are approximately 12 lakh unemployed people in the Andhra Pradesh and the state government is working on an age-wise break-up while ascertaining the percentage of youths who are skilled.

In its 2014 poll manifesto, Telugu Desam Party (TDP) had promised that if voted to power it would ensure at least one job for each family and a financial aid of Rs 1,000 to Rs 2,000 to unemployed youth.
