Are you a virgin? This medical institute in Patna wants employees to declare it in its form

Deputy Medical Superintendent, Dr Manish Manadal said the marriage declaration form is as old as the institute. In 1984, the institute was set up and since then this form has been in practice

The Indira Gandhi Institute of Medical Sciences (IGIMS) which is located in Patna has asked its employees to declare if they are a virgin. In the form, the medical institute asks its employees if they are a widower, a bachelor or a virgin. Also, the form asks the male employees to give details, in case, they have more than one wife.

Other than declaring if they are a virgin, the women employees have also been asked to give details on whether her husband has no other wife living or if he has another wife living. According to the Deputy Medical Superintendent, Dr Manish Manadal, the marriage declaration form is as old as the institute. In 1984, the institute was set up and since then this form has been in practice.

“Everyone has to fill this form which is part of Central Services Rules and this form is similar to what AIIMS in Delhi uses. If the Centre or AIIMS changes the format of the form in the future, we will also change it. This is not a new form and has been in practice since 1984 when IGIMS was established”, said Mandal.
