After going live today, Arnab Goswami’s Republic TV today showed an alleged conversation between Rashtriya Janta Dal chief Lalu Prasad Yadav and Bihar strongman Mohammad Shahabuddin on a tape, in which the latter was purportedly heard of issuing instructions.
The RJD chief is yet to respond to allegations. The channel also claimed that it received multiple calls from the RJD supremo asking it not to play the tape.
Following the first report of the Republic TV, Bharatiya Janata Party’s Sushil Modi said, ‘Lalu must quit public life’. He also said that a BJP delegation will meet state governor soon on the issue.
Interestingly, in the past, Lalu has categorically denied being in touch with Shahabuddin. In 2016, when Shahabuddin was released on bail, Lalu denied having any role in it.
Soon after the news broke on the news channel, the Republic TV and its news started trending on social media websites like Twitter and Facebook, with people writing their views about the news on the Lalu Yadav- Shahabuddin nexus.
