Attorney General Mukul Rohatgi backs army on 'Kashmir Jeep video', says, why so much noise on it

A video went viral on April 9, in which a youth was tied with a rope to the military jeep and was used as a 'human shield'

The government’s Chief Legal Advisor, Attorney General Mukul Rohatgi came is support of the Indian Army amid the ongoing uproar over the video in which a youth is tied to the Army jeep, as a ‘human shield’ to prevent stone-pelters.

According to the reports published in the ‘NDTV’, Rohtagi said, “why there is so much noise on the recent report about a stone pelter tied to an Army vehicle. It helped contain stone pelters and saved the poll officials.”

Rohtagi further added, “Army is doing a great job under hostile conditions. Everyone should look at the Army with pride, they are doing a great job.”

“Everyday people are dying.The Army is dealing with terrorists, not with protestors. Sitting in AC rooms you can’t criticise army. Please put yourself in army position,” Rohtagi said.

Earlier, a video went viral on April 9, in which a youth was tied with a rope to the military jeep and was used as a ‘human shield’. Later, the man tied to the jeep was identified as Farooq Ahmad Dar. Soon after this, the Indian Army received huge criticism.

The Jammu and Kashmir police have lodged a FIR against the Army for the incident. According to the Police sources, the charges being considered against the Army include kidnapping and endangering Dar’s life.

The Chief Minister of the State, Mehbooba Mufti has also sought a detailed report from the state police and the Army too began an internal investigation into the incident.

The Union Home Minister, Rajnath Singh has said he will look into the matter.
