Beverage start-up by three Class X students draws Rs 3 crore investment

The trio also participated in the entrepreneurship competitions at IIT-Kanpur and IIM-Indore

Three Rajasthan teenagers have proved that age could not act as a barrier to your ambitions given you have the talent and confidence to overcome challenges. Three class X students—Chetanya Golechha, Mrigank Gujjar and Utsav Jain—have become one of India’s youngest entrepreneurs as their start-up ‘Infusion Beverages’ have drawn an investment of Rs 3 crore.

The trio-all students of Jaipur’s Neerja Modi school-participated in the entrepreneurship fest of their school in April last year. While they got rejected in the first round, they still fetched an order of 150 flavoured bottles.

“Our presentation of the product failed to impress the judges in the fest. We were kicked out in the first round. Though we were out of the competition in the first hour but got the order of delivering 150 flavoured water bottles,” Golechha told Times of India.

The start-up focuses on making flavoured water without adding any preservatives. The trio also said that they faced difficulties in procuring licences from food department and approval from FSSAI. “As we were minors, our parents sought the permission on our behalf,” Gujjar told the daily.

The trio also participated in the entrepreneurship competitions at IIT-Kanpur and IIM-Indore and received wide appreciation.

By January 2017, the trio had sold 8,000 bottles of flavoured water—kewra, rose and bel flavours through business to business mode. But, a major turning point in their business career came when an investor called them to Indore for a meeting in January.

“The meeting was successful in the first hour. They decided to fund Rs 3 crore. Under the agreement, we have the responsibility of marketing and research. The plant will be based in Indore,” said Jain.
