Several opposition parties on Monday took part in a planned countrywide protest against Prime Minister Narendra Modi government’s demonetisation and how the move has been implemented. The Congress, which has maintained that it is not against the move but is agitated over how it has been executed, has termed Monday as “Jan Aakrosh Diwas” and will hold protests across the country.

The Trinamool Congress and the Aam Aadmi Party will also be holding protests across the country. The Left Front has also called for a strike or ‘Bharat Bandh’ in Kerala, Bengal and Tripura.

-Meanwhile, BJP MLA Binay Bihari reached Bihar Vidhan Sabha wearing his vest & shorts to protest against delay in construction of road in his assembly area. He added that he had donated his “Kurta” to the Indian government and “pyjamas” to the state government of Bihar.

-Sloganeering continues in Kolkata as people take to streets to protest against PM Modi’s move to demonetise Rs 500 and Rs 1000 notes.

– West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee joins the Trinamool Congress protest against demonetisation in Kolkata

-Home Minister Rajnath Singh asserted that the Prime Minister Narendra Modi will address the issue if the opposition insists on it. ” If you want the Prime Minister to come to Lok Sabha for and have a debate on demonetisation then he will and he will intervene. If you have complains against the move, we will address them. But please do not doubt our integrity.”

The Trinamool Congress workers are also carrying out a protest march against the demonetisation move by Modi government. TMC chief Mamata Banerjee has been criticising the government, calling it draconian and anti-poor.

“BJP is saying opposition has called for a Bharat Bandh, but in reality PM through his demonetisation move already did this.”

Meanwhile, BJP workers have observed ‘Jan Abhaar Diwas’ against the Janakrosh Diwas in Nagpur. they are offering sweets and flowers to people who are working.
