Several opposition parties on Monday took part in a planned countrywide protest against Prime Minister Narendra Modi government’s demonetisation and how the move has been implemented. The Congress, which has maintained that it is not against the move but is agitated over how it has been executed, has termed Monday as “Jan Aakrosh Diwas” and will hold protests across the country.
The Trinamool Congress and the Aam Aadmi Party will also be holding protests across the country. The Left Front has also called for a strike or ‘Bharat Bandh’ in Kerala, Bengal and Tripura.

Congress workers are staging protest against demonetisation in Jammu. Several party activists have been detained following clashes with policemen.
Here’s what Bahujan Samaj Party president Mayawati said on Bharat Bandh.
“BJP is saying opposition has called for a Bharat Bandh, but in reality PM through his demonetisation move already did this.”
