Bodies of CRPF jawans were mutilated by Maoists: IG Bastar on Sukma Naxal attack

25 CRPFJawans have lost their lives after a huge group of Naxals attacked them with automatic weapons in Sukma area of Chhattisgarh

A day after 25 CRPF jawans were killed in a Naxal attack in the Sukma region of Chhattisgarh, the IG Bastar has come out to make some startling revelation claiming that the bodies of the soldiers were mutilated by the Maoists adding that the encounter was on for about four hours.

“Gunbattle lasted for about 4 hours, jawans’ bodies were mutilated,” IG Bastar told CNN-News18. According to reports, the Maoists also took away their radio sets making it difficult for the soldiers to call for assistance. Reports suggest that the Naxals were also approaching the other injured jawans when the fellow CRPF personnel rushed to help them.

It was earlier reported that the Naxals used rocket launchers, automatic weapons and AK-47 to carry out the attack. They also went on to steal the weapons of the CRPF personnel. Survivor of the Naxal attack revealed that as many as 300 Naxals attacked 150 jawans who were in the area to provide security for the under construction road. “First Naxals sent villagers to trace our location, then almost 300 Naxals attacked us. We also fired and killed many. I shot 3-4 Naxals in the chest,” CRPF constable Sher Mohammed said. Home Minister Rajnath Singh who paid tributes to martyred soldiers termed it as a “cold-blooded murder” and have assured a strong action against those responsible.

Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Raman Singh who was in Delhi when the attack took place rushed to the state and held an emergency meeting. Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Pranab Mukherjee also came out to condemn the deadly attack. The attack is being dubbed as the worst attack in seven years.
