Burj Khalifa, the world’s tallest building will be illuminated in the form of a tricolour to mark India’s 67th Republic Day. It is for the first time in the iconic tower’s history.
At a height of more than 216 feet, Burj Khalifa is also the world’s tallest free-standing structure in the world. the building was christened in the name of UAE’s incumbent ruler and the president Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan.
On the other hand, the Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan is the chief guest of Republic Day Celebrations on 26 January.
“Tonight we celebrate India’s 68th Republic Day with a spectacular LED illumination of the Indian National flag on #BurjKhalifa! #India,” the building’s official Twitter handle posted.

The LED shows were to scheduled to be organised on both days along with the Dubai Fountain shows. Add to this, the Indian Consulate in Dubai has a flag-hoisting ceremony at the consulate premises by Consul General Anurag Bhushan, followed by flag-hoisting at the Indian High School grounds in Oud Metha.
Since he took over as the Prime Minister, Narendra Modi has also focussed on strengthening relations with the UAE. In October 2015, he addressed a jam-packed Dubai Cricket Stadium, Modi had lashed out at Pakistan, saying the concept of good Taliban and bad Taliban would not work anymore. He had also hailed the initiatives of the government in UAE on promoting friendly relations with India.
He also urged the crowd to give a standing ovation to the Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan for alloting a land for building a temple in the city.
