Soon after the Bihar School Examination Board BSEB released the Class 12 results 2017 on May 30 it was revealed that at least 70 percent of students who appeared for the Class 12 Science stream exams have failed their exams. Additionally, 76 per cent students who appeared for the Arts exam have failed the Bihar class 12 board exams 2017.
As per a report in IANS that such a large number of students have failed after the board undertook stern steps against cheating in this year’s exam. The report also suggests 73.76 per cent students who took the Commerce stream exams have managed to pass. The report further stated only 30.11 percent students in the Science streams have managed to pass.
This year’s Bihar board exam results have drastically dropped as 67.06 per cent students who took the Science stream exam passed last year. Whereas 80.87 per cent students passed in the arts stream. Bihar board found itself in the receiving after a number of cases of cheating in board exams in the year 2016.
“It is a historical result of the Class 12 exams in many ways. The pass percentage may have drastically fallen in Science and Commerce streams this year, but the exam was free from cheating,” board chairman Anand Kishore told reporters. He further stated that CCTV cameras were installed at the entrance of examination centres nd videography was conducted during the exams so that students could not resort to unfair means in the board exams.
In 2016, at least 426 students were expelled after being caught cheating during the Intermediate Examination. Photographs of parents and friends supplying chits to the students during the exams had gone viral urging the board to take immediate steps to conduct cheating free exams.
BSEB declared the results on the official website of the board biharboard.ac.in or bihar.indiaresults.com. The Bihar Intermediate Exam Class 12 board exam were conducted between February 14 and February 25 for Science, Commerce and Arts stream. Over 13 lakh people registered for class 12th exams this year. According to the reports, Bihar board toppers 2017 from each stream would get Rs one lac cash prize, an e-book and laptop.
