One of Delhi’s reputed colleges, Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) will reportedly be offering Engineering and Management courses this year. However, they have still not received an approval for the same.
According to a report in Hindustan Times, the University Grants Commission is also considering to offer engineering and management courses. The report added that if the UGC does give a nod, the university will take admission for the said courses from the year 2018.
The university cannot offer any new courses without the approval of the UGC considering that they will require to hire new faculty, make further arrangement in terms of infrastructure which again requires additional funding. The daily reported that the UGC will take the decision at the earliest and will inform the university.
“All the central universities, including JNU, have submitted plans for the next year … All proposals will be studied before a decision,” the daily quoted a senior human resource development ministry official as saying. JNU is expected to start with a bachelor in the engineering course. They are still working out the Management programme. Meanwhile, the result of JNU entrance exam will be declared on June 23, 2017 and list of candidates selected for Viva-Voce will be announced by July 10.
