NSUI starts ‘Gift a rose’ campaign to restore peace in Delhi University

Ramjas row started when a clash broke out between AISA and ABVP activists on Feb 22 over cancellation of JNU student Umar Khalid’s event at DU’s College

In an attempt to restore peace in Delhi University’s Ramjas college, members of National Students Union of India (NSUI) have started ‘Gift a rose’ campaign in the campus, which has lately become a hotbed of protests.

This all started when a clash broke out between All India Students’ Association (AISA) and Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) activists on February 22 in New Delhi over cancellation of JNU student Umar Khalid’s event at Delhi University’s Ramjas College. Umar Khalid was in the campus to speak at the seminar organised by Literary Society of Ramjas College on ‘The War in Adivasi Areas’ on February 21.

Earlier, another video had surfaced on the social media which showed numerous students raising protests for the freedom of students and raising slogans supporting the independence of Kashmir on February 22.

On February 27, it took another turn after the Delhi University Student Union (DUSU) held a ‘Tiranga March’ which was termed as the march for the country.

As the situation escalated in the University, the Delhi Special Police Commissioner S.B.K Singh stated that the entire matter has been handed over to the Crime Branch which will further take charge following the complaint lodged at the Maurice Nagar police station in North Delhi. He said, “The case details have been transferred to the Crime Branch who will further carry out the investigation. The videos surface so far will also be examined.”
