The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has registered a case against former Haryana Chief Minister Bhupinder Hooda in connection with the alleged irregularities in the re-allotment of land to Associated Journals Limited in Panchkula.
The CBI has reportedly mentioned in their FIR that the Haryana government had allotted land to Associated Journals Limited in Panchkula in the year 1982 but the plot remained vacant and no construction came up till 1992. Following which, the states Urban development Authority took over the possession of the land.
The Ex-Haryana CM has been accused of misusing his position and breach of trust. Current chief minister Manohar Lal Khattar had ordered an inquiry in the 2013 land allotment case.
“The plots ranging from 496 square metres to 1,280 square metres were allegedly allotted to the candidates who were either relatives of Hooda or those of his close associates and friends,” the state government said in a statement.
The company is reportedly run by Congress leaders including the members of the Gandhi family. Meanwhile, Bhupinder Singh Hooda has refuted all the allegation and claimed the episode as “political vendetta”. CBI had even raided Hooda’s residence last year in connection with the case.
The CBI in its FIR had asserted that land measuring about 400 acres which at that time was worth Rs4 crore per acre or more was adding up to about Rs 1,600 crore approximately was allegedly bought by the private builders and others uninformed land owner for only about Rs 100 crore causing massive losses to the farmers and the landlords.
