Two filmmakers who have made a documentary on Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal came across a bizarre situation after they approached Censor Board seeking approval for their film’s release. The board’s chief Pahlaj Nihalani asked them to get a no-objection certificate from Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
The Hindi- English documentary made by Khusboo Ranka and Vinay Shukla, is named ‘An Insignificant Man’, which revolves around the anti-corruption drive started by Anna Hazare, the formation of Aam Aadmi Party, Arvind Kejriwal becoming Chief Minister of New Delhi, NDA coming to power at the Centre.
As per a leading daily, Khushboo Ranka and Vinay Shukla were asked to remove all the references made to other political parties like BJP and Congress. No only PM but they were asked to take a no-objection certificate from former Chief Minister of Delhi Sheila Dixit and current CM Arvind Kejriwal.
When they went to meet Pahlaj Nihalani regarding the issue, he told them that he does not want to give them an explanation. He allegedly asked the security guards to make them leave the office.
Khusboo Ranka said, “Is Mr Nihalani expecting the prime minister to do the censor chief’s job now? If any of the concerned parties, including Mr Modi, Mr Kejriwal or Ms Dixit have a problem, they can challenge us in court. Why is the Censor Board acting as a watchdog for politicians and as the gatekeeper for the establishment? Its job is to certify films, not guard politicians”.
Here’s how Twitter reacted after the incident came to light:

Very soon, before we sit down to write any screenplay, we will have to get a no objection certificate from Pahlaj Nihalani.
