Chetan Cheetah, the man who took nine bullets at Bandipora encounter, is now out of danger

Cheetah suffered bilateral upper limbs fractures and lost his right eye during the encounter

After staying in Intensive Care Unit for around a month, CRPF soldier Chetan Cheetah, who reportedly took nine bullets during an encounter with three terrorists in Kashmir’ Bandipora, has been shifted to the normal ward of All India Institute of Medical Science in New Delhi. The 45-year-old has been taken off the ventilator, according to the latest reports.

” Finally our prayers got answered,Chetan Cheetah’s condition is improving, shifted to normal ward from ICU and off ventilator since 5 days,” a CRPF spokesperson told ANI. After an encounter with three suspected Lashkar militants on February 14, three soldiers were martyred while Cheetah, a commanding officer at CRPF’s 45th battalion, was shot multiple times.

He was first rushed to a military hospital in Srinagar and later airlifted to AIIMS Trauma Center in Delhi for further treatment after his condition remained critical.

Hailing from Rajasthan’s Kota, Cheetah suffered bilateral upper limbs fractures and lost his right eye during the encounter.

Earlier, union minister Kiren Rijiju assured all help to the injured jawan Centre and said, the best medical facility available is being provided for his treatment. Doctors said the officer had fractures in the upper limb, head injuries and “maxillofacial” injury. Army chief General Bipin Rawat had also paid a visit to the brave soldier at the hospital.
