Chhota Rajan and 3 others awarded seven years jail term in fake passport case

Underworld gangster Chhota Rajan and three other who were found guilty have been awarded a jail term of seven years in the fake passport case

Underworld don Chhota Rajan and three others have been awarded seven years jail in connection with a fake passport case. A special court in Delhi has also imposed a fine of Rs 15,000 on each of them.

This comes a day after Gangster Chhota Rajan and three retired public servants were convicted by the special
court in connection with the fake passport case. Special Judge Virender Kumar Goyal had held him guilty on the charges of forgery. Three others who have been awarded the sentence were out on bail but were taken into custody by the police officials after the sentence was announced.

The court was hearing a case in which it Chhota Rajan had obtained a fake passport in the name of Mohan Kumar. The underworld don had procured the passports with the assistance of the public officials who have also been convicted. One of the accused had also filed a petition in the court seeking a transfer of the case to Bengaluru trial court. However, the High court dismissed the plea asserting that the district court could also hear the case.

Chhota Rajan and three others have been found guilty of offences which invokes sections 420 (cheating), 471 (using as genuine a forged document), 468 (forgery for purpose of cheating), 467(forgery of valuable security or will), 419(cheating by impersonation) and 120B (criminal conspiracy) of the IPC and section 12 (offences and penalties) of the Passport Act.
