Congress IT Head Divya Spandana Booked Under Sedition Over Tweet On PM Modi

Divya posted a photoshopped image of PM Modi with a hashtag “Chor PM Chup Hai”.

Actor-turned-politician and Congress IT cell spokesperson Divya Spandana has sparked a controversy and has been booked for sedition by the Uttar Pradesh police for a tweet against Prime Minister Narendra Modi. On Monday, Divya posted a photoshopped image of PM Modi with a hashtag “Chor PM Chup Hai” (The Prime Minister is a thief, he is silent). The tweet sparked reactions after it got widely shared.

Syed Rizwan Ahmad, a Lucknow-based lawyer took offence at her tweet, and later filed a police complaint. Gomtinagar Police station in Lucknow booked Ramya under Section 67 of The Information Technology (Amendment) Act and sedition (Section 124A).
