The Tamil Nadu Police blocked traffic from Anna Salai to College Road and diverted vehicles via other routes around the Apollo hospital in Chennai, where Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa was admitted on Thursday night after she complained and dehydration.
However, even as the police deployed nearly 500 men, concerned party workers tried to sneak in the hospital to meet the ailing Jayalalithaa, the Times of India reported.
The AIADMK chief is stable now.
“Honourable Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu was admitted to Appolo Hospital, Chennai with fever and dehydration. The Honorable Madam is stable and under observation,” the hospital said in a press release.
On hearing about her condition, other party workers offered special prayers for her speedy recovery, the English daily wrote.
