Cow intakes oxygen and exhales oxygen too, says Rajasthan education minister

Devnani has challenged the UN Food and Agricultural Organisation reports of 2006 which says cow's intestine releases GHG.

Urging the people to understand the scientific significance of the cow, Rajasthan Education Minister Vasudev Devnani made a statement which has attracted the limelight. He stated that cow is the only animal who inhales oxygen but exhales oxygen too. He made this comment while speaking at an event organised by ‘Akshay Partra’ foundation at the Hingonia Goshala.

Gai ekmatra prani hai jo oxygen grahan karta hai aur oxygen hi chhodta hai (The cow is the only animal that inhales oxygen and also releases oxygen).”

“There is a strong need to understand the scientific significance of the cow and this message should reach all people,” he added.

After making this statement, Devnani has apparently challenged the claims made by the UN Food and Agricultural Organisation, which had claimed in a 2006 report held livestock, including cows, responsible for the emission of GHG gasses from their intestine and manure decay in a large amount.

GHG (Green House Houses) is a gas in an atmosphere that absorbs and emits radiation within the thermal infrared range. This process is the fundamental cause of the greenhouse effect. The primary greenhouse gasses in Earth’s atmosphere are water vapor, carbon dioxide, methane, nitrous oxide, and ozone.
