Rehabilitation is in full swing as Odisha continues to rebuild itself days after the deadly Cyclone Fani ravaged India’s coastal state. While the state govt managed to evacuate more than 1 million people the damage has still been extensive. The total death toll stands at 64 with the worst-affected Puri district alone registering 39 deaths. As per the initial damage assessment, 5,08,467 houses were destroyed, 14 lakh trees were uprooted, 1 lakh hectares of agricultural land was affected. Over 30 per cent crop damage is being reported.
