Dadagiri in Lok Sabha! Sena MPs heckle Civil Aviation Minister over flying ban on Gaikwad; Rajnath intervenes

After LS speaker adjourned the house post Ravindra Gaikwad's statement, Shiv Sena MPs surrounded Aviation minister Gajapati Raju

It was a complete ‘dadagiri’ in Lok Sabha on Thursday when Shiv Sena MPs threatened Civil Aviation Minister Ashok Gajapati Raju and almost came to blows after the Central government refused to intervene on the flying ban on party MP Ravindra Gaikwad.

One of the Shiv Sena MPs, Anant Geete even went on threaten that no flights will fly out of Mumbai. In an appalling turn of events, soon after the speaker adjourned the house after Gaikwad’s statement ended, Shiv Sena MPs charged and surrounded Aviation minister Gajapati Raju. Following which, senior leaders including Rajnath Singh and Smriti Irani intervened and came to the rescue of the civil aviation minister.

Despite Lok Sabha Speaker Sumitra Mahajan saying that the House is adjourned, Sena MPs kept threatening the Civil Aviation minister for at least 10 minutes. Post the unruly behaviour, SS Ahluwalia led the civil aviation minister to his chamber.

Meanwhile, Ravindra Gaikwad played the victim card and claimed injustice while addressing the parliament. While he apologised to the parliament, he refused to apologise to Air India staffer claiming that he had misbehaved with him first. “I apologise to Parliament if I’ve caused any hurt, but not to the Air India official,” he said.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi-led government refused to interfere and said law appropriate law and order should be followed. “The law should take its course. Aircraft are machines where people fly and safety is important. Safety will not be compromised,” Civil Aviation Minister Ashok Gajapati Raju affirmed. Lok Sabha speaker Sumitra Mahajan also reportedly held a meeting with Home Minister, Civil Aviation Minister & Shiv Sena MPs to discuss the issue.
