DCW chief Swati Maliwal met with Burari incident victim's family who was stabbed 22 times.
Delhi Commission for Women (DCW) chief Swati Maliwal met the family of 21-year-old woman who was earlier stabbed 22 times in Burari. The victim succumbed to her injuries on Tuesday morning.
The
Indian Express quoted Maliwal after the visit saying, “There is no fear in the minds of the people. That is why a man has brutally attacked a woman… today on a busy street. This is shameful. I won’t point fingers at one agency. The reason is that there are no convictions. There is a need to improve accountability and resources of the Delhi police. We also need more courts in Delhi and improve our forensic laboratories.”
The woman was stabbed by a jilted lover identified as Surender Singh, 34, who used to stalk her. The accused stabbed the woman at 9:30 am in full public view but no one came to her rescue.
Delhi tourism minister Kapil Mishra also met the family of the victim. He tweeted in Hindi, “Met the family members of the daughter who was brutally killed in Burari, yesterday. The daughter has left many questions for the police and the society.”
