A person was killed in an explosion in Old Delhi’s Naya Bazar area near Chandni Chowk. Three people have been injured in the incident near the wholesale market. The Delhi Police’s anti-terror wing and Special Cell personnel have rushed to the spot, ANI reported. A lot of explosive materials used in firecrackers were found at the spot.
“As per investigation as of now, it seems like it was a firecracker explosion,” SBK Singh, Special CP, Law & Order (Northern Range), said. However, the senior police official added that investigation was on find the material used in the firecracker.

Meanwhile, union home minister Rajnath Singh spoke to Delhi Police commissioner Alok Verma over the incident. The minister took stock of the situation and directed the top cop to investigate the matter. The police have beefed up security in the city after the incident. Meanwhile, the Ministry of Home Affairs has sought a factual report into the incident.
