Marking the 126th birth anniversary of Dr. Bhim Rao Ambedkar, Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched BHIM-Aadhaar App in Nagpur on Friday.
“If you add a person to BHIM app, after three transactions by the person, Rs.10 will be added to your account, the scheme will continue till Oct 14,” PM Modi.
BHIM Aadhaar is the merchant interface of the BHIM App which will pave the way for making digital payments by using Aadhaar. The App will enable Indians to pay digitally using their biometric data like their thumb imprint on a merchants’ biometric-enabled device.
Apart from BHIM-Aadhaar App, Modi introduced several initiatives to further the digital payments revolution. These include cash back and referral bonus schemes for BHIM and declaring about 75 townships going less-cash. Announcing the App, Modi announced an incentive program saying for every successful referral, users can earn Rs 10.

With BHIM app, people will be able to make payment even without using a smartphone. Urging people to go cashless the PM said, “If we move towards less cash, there will be a positive change. Time is not far when we will have premises-less, paperless banking.”
While addressing a public meeting in Nagpur PM said that there was a time when using your thumb impression was viewed as a sign of illiteracy. But now, things have changed, technology has made thumbs a source of power. Also, PM presented awards to mega draw winners of Lucky Grahak Yojana.
