Farooq Abdullah backs stone pelters in J&K, slams PM Narendra Modi

Farooq Abdullah went on to glorify stone pelters and slammed Prime Minister Narendra Modi who termed stone pelters as "misguided youth"

Days after Prime Minister Narendra Modi visited Jammu and Kashmir and said that some misguided youth were engaged in stone-pelting, National Conference (NC) President and former chief minister of J&K. Farooq Abdullah has backed stone pelters and asserted that they were doing nothing but fighting for their nation.

Farooq Abdullah hit out at the Prime Minister stating that stone pelting had nothing to do with tourism adding that it was only a fight to battle the communal forces. “They (stone pelters) will risk starvation but will throw stones for the nation that’s what we need to understand,” Farooq Abdullah said.

Farooq Abdullah further said that if India and Pakistan were unable to solve their disputes, America should intervene and solve the issues.

Last week, PM Modi addressed a rally in Udhampur when he visited the state to inaugurate the country’s longest tunnel and asserted that “youth of Kashmir have a choice to make from two paths tourism and terrorism.” He added that “the path of bloodshed has not helped anyone and will never help anyone”.

While addressing the rally, Prime Minister affirmed that the government’s sole Mantra is development and the way they want to achieve that is through “Jan Bhagidari” while involving the youth of the state. The tunnel project in Jammu and Kashmir is between Udhampur and Ramban part of the proposed widening of the NH-44 from Jammu to Srinagar.
