A couple from United States was so fascinated by Kerala that they decided to put the name of their daughter after this Indian State.

Charles Kramer and his wife Brenna, both US citizens, were so enamoured by the state and its people that they named their  first born after Gods own country.

In a report published in Times of India Kramer said, “The hills, the lakes and the backwaters left an indelible mark on us. I even wrote a poem about Kerala. During the visit we made up our mind that we would name our first child after the beautiful state.”

They both visited Kerala in 2006, and after their trip they went back to US and tied knot and named their first born Kerala who grew up in Los Angeles.  Now after 11 years the couple again visited Kerala and this time with Kerala and her five-year-old brother Julian.

The purpose of their visit this time was that the couple is now working for a project ‘ World Schooling Tour’ and will be visiting 18 countries and seven continents where they will be learning different teaching methods that are taught in these regions.

Principal of the Alphonsa Residential School, Sr Ancel Maria where the kids studied while they were in Kerala said, “Kerala quickly picked up Malayalam and within a week she started speaking basic words and sentences.”

Kramer on the phone said “We want to come back to Kerala and continue the education of my children at least for six more months there. It’s a lovely place.”
