Fed up of husband’s addiction to porn, wife moves SC demanding ban on obscene sites

The wife has filed a petition in SC demanding a ban on porn websites after claiming that her husband was addicted to it causing marital dispute.

Almost two years after the government lifted the ban on porn sites after facing flak over the move, a woman has now moved the Supreme Court demanding a ban on obscene websites claiming that her husband was addicted to porn and it was affecting her married life.

According to a Times of India report, the woman who hails from Mumbai has filed a petition in court urging the top court to ask the government to block all porn websites. In her petition, the woman who is also a social worker has claimed that her husband who is a well-educated man is extremely addicted to watching porn and such websites will also have an adverse effect on the youth in the coming years.

“My husband has of late become a addict of porn and spends a lot of his precious time watching pornography which is now-a-days is easily accessible through the internet. As a result my husband has fallen prey to this addiction of watching pornographic videos and pictures which has made my husband’s mind perverted and ruined my matrimonial life,” TOI quoted her saying.

She added that her marriage of 30 years has hit a rough patch since he got addicted to porn adding that her two children are suffering too. Last year, the court had urged the centre to take steps to keep a check on child pornography and they must look for ways to ban it.

In 2015, the government had passed an order to block access to 857 pornographic and humour websites. However, the ban was lifted are receiving criticism from several sectors of the society.The order was criticised as censorship and sparked raging debate on social media.
