Amid the controversy over the ban on illegal slaughterhouses and Vishwa Hindu Parishad’s (VHP) decision to shut down all the meat shops in Uttar Pradesh, Shiv Sena activists in Gurugram (Haryana) today took to the streets closing down all the meat shops till the Navratri ends.
The Sena activists demanded that all the shops selling meat, including the international food giant KFC, should be closed for the nine days of Navaratri and on all Tuesdays thereafter.

The Sena members reportedly took took the law into their own hands after petitions to the Haryana Police went unanswered. More than 500 shops were forcibly shut in the national capital region (NCR) today.
Meanwhile, there have been cases of some meat shops being burned down by unidentified assailants in Uttar Pradesh. The meat sellers have gone on strike in the state and have urged the Yogi Adityanath government to listen to their demands and do something for them as well.
