Lauding the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) for the historic launch of 104 satellites in one go, a pizza chain offered free pizzas to ISRO employees across the country on Monday. The employees across the country were invited to select Pizza hut stores where they were treated them to a Pan Pizza.
Managing Director Pizza Hut Unnat Varma said that it was a moment of great pride for them and the initiative was just a small token of the appreciation to put “cheerful smiles on the faces who made the nation proud by achieving such an amazing feat.”
Pizzas worth over Rs six lakh were distributed to over 2,000 ISRO employees.
The space agency had on February 15 created a world record by successfully putting 104 satellites into orbit. The Indian rocket Polar Satellite Launch Vehicle (PSLV) lifted off successfully with 104 satellites, including the country’s earth observation satellite Cartosat-2 series, from the Sriharikota spaceport in Andhra Pradesh on Wednesday.
Meanwhile, ISRO chairman AS Kiran Kumar on Monday said the country has the capability to develop a space station. “We still talk about what would be the immediate benefits of a manned space mission. That is why the country hasn’t made up its mind about when to invest in a space station. The day the country takes the decision, we will ‘ok’ the project. Just draw a policy and provide us necessary funds and time,” Kumar said.
A long-term thinking was needed for setting up a space station, he said, adding “the sooner the better.”
