In a good news for meat lovers, Buffalo kebabs will now be available again in Lucknow from Wednesday at city’s famous eating joint Tunday Kababi, better known as Tundays. The shop stopped selling buffalo meat on March 23, when the newly formed government in the state put a ban on illegal slaughterhouses.
According to a report in Hindustan Times, the owner of the shop Tunday Kababi, Mohammed Usman said, “Sale of the buffalo meat kebabs would start from Wednesday onwards. I am happy as now we can cater to people belonging to the weaker section of the society, who could not afford chicken or mutton kebabs that are much expensive than buffalo meat kebabs”.
After the crackdown on illegal slaughter houses, the shop, which was set up in 1905, dropped selling of buffalo meat and was serving mutton and chicken kebabs. The shop is now able to sell the buffalo kebab, after the Allahabad high court, last week ordered Yogi Adityanath led government in UP to issue licences and no-objection certificate to meat sellers whose licence were not renewed after March.
Mohammed Usman said, “Gradually, perhaps after the court’s order directing the state government to find a way out and issue licenses to the butchers, the supply of the buffalo meat is being restored gradually.
“Hence, it is decided to restore the sale of buffalo meat galaouti kebabs that are not only in demand but also much affordable”, he added. Buffalo kebab will now be available at both the joints of Tunday Kababi’s in the city: Chowk and Nazirabad.
