As the second leg of the Budget session 2017 began on March 9, racial killing in the United States echo in the Parliament. Home Minister Rajnath Singh condemned the killings and said that such incidents should be taken seriously and assured that a detailed statement will be given on it next week.
Rajnath Singh in the Parliament said, “Incidents regarding Indians in USA taken very seriously, statement on behalf of Government of Indian to be given in the Parliament next week”.
After a month-long break, the second session of the Budget kick-started on March 9 and it will continue till April 12.
There has been rampant increase in the cases of hate crime against Indians in America. On February 22, Srinivas Kuchibhotla, a 32-year-old Indian techie was shot dead by an American man Adam Purinton in Kansas. Kuchibhotla’s colleague, Alok Madasanialso who was present with him also got injured in the shooting. This incident is being investigated as a case of hate crime

Few days after the Kansas killing, Harnish Patel an Indian-origin businessman was shot dead outside his house in South Carolina.

In another incident, a 39-year-old Sikh man was shot by an unidentified man when he had stepped out of his residence in the Kent city of Washington. Before opening fire at Sikh man, the accused got into tussle with him and yelled “Go back to your own country.” The victim suffered serious injuries after the incident.
