Prime Minister Narendra Modi on January 9 addressed a gathering at Bhoomi Poojan Ceremony of Gandhinagar Railway Station in Gujarat. He asserted that the government was making constant efforts so that railways make a valuable difference in the lives of people across the country.
Adding that Railways was important to a number of people across the country, PM Modi said that the railways is connected with every citizen and the poorest of the poor benefit because of the Railways.
He further affirmed that budget allocation for the railways has also been increased with the government making efforts to make it as modern as possible.

The frequent train accidents are a wake up call for the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) government and highlights the critical need to upgrade infrastructure and technology in the railway system. The worst rail tragedy in the country in recent years, over 140 people were killed and 180 others were injured when 14 coaches of Patna-Indore Express derailed in Kanpur Dehat district.
The Modi government had also said that they would soon introduce India to bullet trains.
