The family of Junaid Khan, who was killed on a moving train is still in shock over their loss. 15-year-old Junaid, along with his relatives had gone to Delhi for Eid shopping and was on his way back home to Ballabhgarh when he was stabbed by fellow passengers.
According to a Hindustan Times report, they were carrying gifts and food for their family members and had packed them in plastic bags, which the other passengers claimed was beef. The incident took place on Thursday evening between Okhla and Asoti in Haryana.
Haseem, one of injured said that they had occupied two seats and were playing ludo when the train reached Okhla station. Around 15 to 20 people boarded the Mathura-bound train at Okhla and asked them to vacate the seats. When they refused, the men started abusing them with communal remarks.
“They started calling us names and said we were anti-nationals. Later, they started thrashing us. They were pointing at a packet which had food, saying that we should not be allowed to sit since we were carrying beef,” said Haseem, according to the HT report.

“He was a child. How could they hate us so much to have killed him so brutally? When I reached the spot, my son Hashim was sitting on the station with Junaid’s body soaked in blood in his lap,” said Junaid’s father according to the HT report.
“They flung our skull caps, pulled my brother’s beard, slapped us, and taunted us about eating cow meat. Beef is not even cooked in our village. They then took out knives. We couldn’t do anything,” said Shaqir, the brother of Junaid.
