Aamir Khan’s Dangal is inspiring cooperation and goodwill in a small hamlet of Jammu & Kashmir’s Udhampur district. Wrestlers from Hindu and Muslim community fight it out at Gudhar village to encourage sportsmanship and develop a stronger bond between them.

People from across the district gather in Gudhar to see the wrestling matches and nurture the bond of camaraderie between the two major religions of India, ANI reported.

Speaking with ANI, Ashwini Khajuria, one of the organisers said, “The most surprising thing is that Muslims, Hindus and the people from Gujjar Bakarwal community they all have joined hands to organise this wrestling. It’s a small village with a small population. They organise the event by collecting money. It’s a symbol of harmony and peace for the country, world and most importantly for the people of Kashmir.”

The tournament is more like a festival for the villagers who not only enjoy the wrestling but also discuss issues pertaining to the development of the village.

“Hindu Muslim, Sikh, Christians, we want to send the message of brotherhood. We all are one and Hindu, Muslims, all of us will continue to live together,” said Fareed Mohammed, who had come to witness the event.
