Hrithik Roshan has finally signed his first biopic, which will be directed by Vikas Bahl of Queen fame. The film is based on the life of Anand Kumar.
Brace yourselves guys, Hrithik Roshan has finally signed his first biopic, which will be directed by Vikas Bahl of Queen fame. The film is based on the life of Anand Kumar, the genius mathematician who started the Super 30 programme for underprivileged kids who want to crack the IITs.
While Vikas had been researching for the film for the past couple of years, Hrithik will start prepping once he is back from his US holiday with sons Hrehaan and Hridhaan, according to reports.
We are pretty sure not many of you know about him and so, we thought of helping you out there. We dug up information about him and here are 7 things you really need to know about Anand Kumar:
- In 2002, he started the Super 30 programme that funds and coaches poor students for IIT-JEE, the entrance test for the Indian Institutes of Technology. His institute, Ramanujan School of Mathematics, conducts a test each year to select top 30 students with the best potential to crack the entrance examination. He then tutors them and provides accommodation for a year.
- His father was a post office clerk in Bihar, and had a very low income. He couldn’t afford private schooling for his children. So, Anand Kumar studied at a Hindi medium government school where, at an early age, he fell in love with mathematics.
- During graduation, he submitted papers on Numbers Theory that were published in UK’s Mathematical Spectrum and The Mathematical Gazette. He cracked the Cambridge University exam but couldn’t join because of poor financial condition.
- His dedication was such that in order to read foreign journals, he used to travel to Varanasi on Fridays and study in the Central Library, Benaras Hindu University (BHU) and return to Patna on Monday mornings.
- He started his own institute, the Ramanujan School of Mathematics in 1992. In three years, the strength of students grew from two students to 500.
- Many private and government institutions have offered him financial help over the years, but he said no to every one of them.
- Super 30’s success rate is just amazing. At least 27 to 28 people out of 30 manage to crack entrance exam every year.
