In a barbaric act of violence, a man in a village in Ludhiana killed her wife for not being able to give birth to a son. Wanting to forcibly abort the foetus of his seven-month pregnant wife, Irvinder Singh and his brother Nirmal allegedly tied the hands of Manjit Kaur and pressed her stomach till her foetus came out. The woman who died while facing this cruelty was thrown along with her foetus away in a field near the village.
As per a report in the Indian Express, 32 years old Manjit Kaur was the mother of a two-year-old daughter in Ludhiana’s Jandi Kalan village. Police recovered her body and her foetus from the fields. SHO of Sidhwan Bet police station Paramjit Singh said: “Her husband and brother-in-law tried to forcibly abort the foetus. They tied her hands and kept pressing the stomach till the foetus came out and she died. We have recovered the body and foetus from the fields,” said. An investigation into the case has been initiated.

While Manjit’s mother-in-law is bed ridden, Irvinder and Nirmal fled away after the act. Police have filed an FIR against the duo for murder and causing miscarriage, along with other charges. “We are yet to arrest the accused as they are absconding,” the SHO said.
Pressing charges against the culprits of her daughter’s death, Manjit’s father Ravinder Singh said that he was told by villagers on Monday that they had heard Manjit crying in the night. But when he reached Jandi Kalan, Manjit’s husband Irvinder Singh and brother-in-law Nirmal were not able to tell him about Manjit.

Ravinder claimed that her Manjit’s husband had threatened her with dire consequences if she failed to give birth to a boy.
