A Telangana traffic cop is singing his way into the hearts of people and spreading awareness against superstition and crime. A Nagamallu, a traffic inspector at LB Nagar, Hyderabad has earned a considerable following on social media thanks to his songs, based on issues like fake news, mob lynching, black magic.
Nagamallu has a team of 21 youngsters who help him create these songs. “I along with my team members have so far composed 20 songs. The present generation is more attracted towards entertainment. Therefore, I thought this is a better way to create awareness among people. People from both the Telugu speaking states (Telangana and Andhra) have appreciated all my songs ” he told news agency ANI.
When Nagamallu was studying for Trained Teacher’s Certificate (TTC) in Nalagonda he came came across the story of a woman who was burnt alive on suspicion of practising black magic. He got support in then SP Mahesh Bhagwat who asked him to be part of awareness campaigns to eradicate black magic.
Known for his social work and philanthropy in Hyderabad, Nagamallu was last in news when he pawned his daughter’s gold to help build a home for a differently-abled man and his 95-year-old mother. He has saved lives of many accident victims, by promptly rushing them to hospital.
