Business tycoon Vijay Mallya on Friday accused the present NDA government and the previous UPA government of treating him as a ‘football’. “Media happily being used as the pitch. I am the football. Two fiercely competitive teams NDA versus UPA playing. Unfortunately no Referees,” he tweeted. He said that he was shocked at CBI allegations against him. “All false and misconceived to say the least. What do a bunch of elite Police know about business and Economics,” he asked.
His comments come a day after the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) charge-sheeted and arrested eight IDBI Bank officials, including its former chairman Yogesh Aggrawal in the case for their role in bypassing lending norms to extend a loan of Rs 950 crore to Vijay Mallya in 2010.
Markets regulator Sebi also asked brokers to square off all existing open positions in the equity derivatives segment they hold for Vijay Mallya as well as the six former officials of United Spirits who were banned from the market last week.
Through an interim order, the Sebi had last week barred Mallya and six former officials of USL from entering the market, after the CBI charge-sheeted them in a money laundering case involving a loan IDBI Bank.
