The Income Tax department sleuths on Friday raided a bank in Chandni Chowk area of Delhi. At least 15 bank accounts held by the bank have been found to be fake.
It was also found that since November 8 more than Rs. 450 crores have been deposited into different accounts in this branch of Axis Bank.
The income tax department officials have been carrying out raids at multiple locations across the country. Meanwhile, the Gujarat Police arrested four people who were found carrying new currency notes worth Rs 76 lakh in Surat. Further investigation is underway.
The Haryana Police’s Crime Branch seized new notes worth Rs 10 lakh during a search operation near Gurugram last night. Also, the Mumbai Police detained two people in connection with seizure of new notes worth Rs85 lakh in Dadar area of the metropolis.
While the police officials and sleuths continue their operation, the queues of people outside the ATMs and banks does not seem to end. In Moradabad district of Uttar Pradesh, locals clashed with policemen after a lawyer standing in a queue outside a bank was manhandled.
