Indian Army leads from the front: PM Modi ‘salutes’ soldiers on Army day

Prime Minister Narendra Modi took to Twitter to applaud the Indian Army for their constant efforts to protect the nation on the occasion of Army day.

Prime Minister Narendra on January 15 sent his greetings to all the soldiers and members of the Indian Army on the occasion of Army day. He took to Twitter to wish the soldiers and the veterans of the Indian army on Army day asserting that he “salutes” the courage shown by them.

“Greetings to all soldiers, veterans & their families on Army Day. We salute the courage & invaluable service of the Indian Army,” he tweeted.

Adding that the Indian Army always leads from the front, PM Modi said that the army is always active in helping the people across the country in the times of natural disasters as well as protecting the “sovereignty of the nation”.

PM Modi further affirmed that the Army goes out of their way to protect the people of the country and it was for them people across the country are able to sleep peacefully.

In India, we celebrate Army Day on 15 January every year, to honour Lieutenant General K. M. Cariappa’s who took over as the first Commander-in-Chief of the Indian Army from General Sir Francis Butcher, the last British Commander-in-Chief of India, on 15 January 1949.
