‘Indians will buy anything on discount’, Twitter reacts to bumper offers on sale of BS-III vehicles

Even the registration of BS III vehicles will be allowed only if there is a proper proof that they were sold on or before March 31

In a blow to automobile firms, the Supreme Court has banned the sale and registration of vehicles, which are not BS-IV compliant, in India from April 1 when the new emission norms come into force. Since the automobile makers will be suffering major losses, the companies are resorting to selling off the BS-III compliant vehicles on discounted price.

From April 1, none of the BS-III compliant vehicles can be sold. Even the registration of vehicles will be allowed only if there is a proper proof that they were sold on or before March 31. Hence, there is a huge rush of buyers outside showrooms. Twitter too is flooded with responses on whether the decision is good.

The apex court observed that the health of the people is “far, far more important than the commercial interests of the manufacturers”, but here is what people have to say.

Some even questioned Prime Minister’s Narendra Modi whether this ban is reflective of the ‘Acche din’ that he had promised.

There were questions over how the government expects manufacturers to cope with their losses too since it is sure that they will not be able to sell all of their stock till midnight tonight.

Since the decision is taken in view of rising pollution in the country, will there be more steps pertaining to buses and trucks to ensure that the emission levels come down.

Totally agree with the ban on #BSIII vehicles…_
