India's Rape Horror Continues! 11-Year-Old Held Captive & Raped Inside Madrassa In UP

A juvenile has been detained in connection with the case.

Months after an eight-year-old girl’s murder and rape inside a temple in Jammu’s Kathua shocked the entire nation, another incident has been reported from a madrassa in Uttar Pradesh’s Ghaziabad. An 11-year-old girl from east Delhi’s Ghazipur was allegedly abducted and raped inside a madrassa.

The incident happened last week on Saturday when she went missing from the market. After her father registered a complaint, she was found a day later by the police at the madrassa.  A 17-year-old boy has been detained in connection with the case. He has been charged under the sections of kidnapping and the POCSO Act, reports Indian Express.

According to a report by The Times of India, the girl was taken to the madrassa in Sahibabad by the accused. After being sexually assaulted, the girl was locked in a room. The madrassa belongs to the local mosque committee and the room where she was raped is used for organising classes. The role of the involvement of the Maulvi is also being probed. He is, however, yet to be arrested.

Police managed to trace the accused after examining the CCTV footage which showed the accused taking the girl in an autorickshaw. The call records of the girl’s mobile phone also provided crucial evidence.

On Wednesday, the case was transferred to the Crime Branch. The team visited the madrassa and questioned the visitors in connection with the case.

Meanwhile, locals organised a protest at the NH 24 and held a candlelight march demanding action in the case. Several BJP leaders including Delhi BJP President Manoj Tiwari and East Delhi MP Maheish Girri met the family of the survivor and assured them assistance. Girri also wrote to home minister Rajnath Singh to demand CBI investigation into the case, reports PTI.
