InUth Decodes: Is India Becoming ‘Lynchistan’?

Three cases of mob lynching were reported last week.

Last week, a brutal incident of mob lynching of an Adivasi man shook the conscience of the entire country.

It happened in Kerala, a state known for its ‘high literacy rate’. The 30-year-old deceased named Madhu was tied with a cloth and beaten with sticks.
His crime? He allegedly stole a bag full of grocery items. However, what is more appalling is the fact that pictures and videos of him, captured minutes before his death, were widely shared on social media.
The Kerala lynching sparked a collective national outrage and serious questions were raised over the killing of the most marginalised section of the society. But what probably failed to catch everyone’s attention were the two other similar cases that happened last week.
